Immigrants often are faced with numerous challenges in establishing or maintaining their legal status. 

The maze of necessary documents and requirements can be overwhelming. IICONN operates a Pro Bono Court Representation Project, representing immigrants in immigration court in Hartford. 

Court Representation Project: Whether you are facing deportation, an asylum appeal, or are scheduled to appear before the immigration court and lack proper representation, IICONN may be able to help you. We have a network of pro bono attorneys who, at times, may be able to represent you for free of cost. In other cases, IICONN legal staff may be able to represent you in court for a nominal fee.

These lawyers handle matters that include:

  • Cancellation of removal
  • Asylum
  • 212 ( c ) waivers
  • Adjustment of Status
  • Convention against Torture cases
  • Deportation cases

The services are provided at low or no cost to these clients. In addition, the Institute also provides supportive social services to immigrant clients and their families who are being represented by the Pro Bono Attorneys through our social service case managers.
